2014 San Jose Women’s Bikini Championships and IFBB, NPC bodybuilding, figure, and physique
I found myself a bit shocked at the way the women’s bikini contestants had to pose, the mandatory moves. To me it seemed embarrassingly demeaning. I know someone who has done women’s bikini and she trains just as hard with the weights as the guys who compete in bodybuilding and has the same incredible nutritional discipline. I am embarrassed that in this day and age, women are still treated like this and the contest organizers should hang their heads in shame.
The equivalent event for men is the men’s physique which is jokingly called by the haters “men’s bikini”. In the men’s physique, the guys get to strut across the stage with their heads held high, do a few quarter turns, and head to the side line. The women’s bikini contestants on the other hand are forced to prance around like PlayBoy hostess bunnies with their tails in the air to please the male organizers and judges. This video is my response. Its my hope that when people see a guy doing what the women are forced to do it will open their eyes to how ridiculous the mandatory women’s bikini poses are.
Perhaps it would be an instructive exercise for the judges, rule makers, and those who come up with the mandatory poses for women to have their own daughters enter one of their contests just to see how it feels to have their daughters paraded around on stage like that.
The 2014 San Jose bodybuilding, mens physique, women’s bikini, and women’s figure contest today was a real adrenaline rush, my first contest! I really enjoyed meeting everyone at the expo and all the support!
To those of you who say its the women’s fault for entering these bikini contests, let me try to explain from what I understand. There are three events the women can enter – bodybuilding, figure, and bikini. Women’s bodybuilding is filled with massive, muscular women who could snap you in two like a twig. Very few women are interested in screwing up their hormonal systems as is required to even enter women’s bodybuilding. Women’s figure requires more muscle mass than women’s bikini. Its difficult for a woman to get sufficient muscle to enter women’s figure, not as hard as women’s bodybuilding, but still out of reach for most women. That leaves women’s bikini for those women who want to remain natty and still enter a contest. To those who say its still their fault for entering these bikini contests, realize this. There are a LOT of women trainers, and to make money, they need to have a good resume, and part of that resume required to get clients is contest wins. These women who are really passionate about fitness and health are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They can boycott, and then be hindered in their attempt to make a living with their passion for fitness … or they can paste on a fake smile and parade around their bootie on stage.
