Uneducated people in America love to scream about their rights. The thing they do not realize is that these rights come with responsibilities. Take the first Amendment right to free speech in America. A lot of people mistakenly think that means they can say whatever they want, where ever they want – not true. If you are on someones private property, you do NOT have the right to say what ever you want. You also don’t have the right to libel or slander someone, those things are illegal. Simply put, your freedom stops where someone else’s rights begin.
Let’s take mask wearing. It’s become fashionable for people to scream about how they should have the freedom to choose if they want to wear a mask or not and that the government can’t force them to wear a mask. Yes, you have freedom as long as it does not encroach on someone else’s rights – like the right to LIVE. You do NOT have the right to kill someone else and that is exactly what you are doing if you are asymptomatic and spraying your droplets all over vulnerable populations. If you want freedom then ride your motorcycle without a helmet, that will only kill you. If you want freedom then disable your airbags and drive without your seatbelt, that will only kill you. If you want to take the latest untested “miracle” supplement, knock yourself out, it will only hurt you, but WEAR YOUR MASK.
The government DOES have the right to force you to do things. Abiding by the rules set out by the government is required in America. You have to pay your taxes, you cannot exceed the speed limit, you have to go to school, and you can’t kill people. The government DOES have the right to force you to do things required for public health and if you don’t like the rules here, you are free to move to a country of your choosing.
