Its a day to celebrate, not stuff yourself sick. Have everything but have small portions. Have one small sampler plate and take a break and enjoy the conversation of friends and family before going back for seconds, you will eat less and enjoy it more.
Start a new tradition of going for a long walk after the big meal and take the whole family too. It helps burn off those extra calories and it will make you feel a lot better too.
