Paragraph about myself and training:
‘Hi Scoob,
Just thought I’d include a bit about my journey to accompany the photos. My story is like so many others on this website. I came across your videos while searching Youtube and eventually made it back to your webpage and could immediately relate to the solid information it contained. I’d been “exercising” for a while but had never got anywhere or saw substantial gains as there was never really any structure to what I was doing. I’ve always been a pretty lean guy with a relatively high metabolism and while I’ve never been overweight I’ve certainly been out of shape.
Once I got my head around the seemingly backwards concept of overtraining and realised the overwhelming importance of nutrition, I bought a cheap set of dumbbells and started out on the ‘intermediate workout plan’. I quickly progressed to the ‘Advanced workout plan’ and continue to do a similar 5 way split to this day. I vary weight and rep rages on a weekly basis and incorporate drop sets and hybrid workouts so as to keep the body guessing. For cardio I enjoy running, biking and jump rope.
In terms of nutrition I eat 7 times a day, every 3 hours trying to consume approximately 2750-3000 calories a day, but I’m still refining this. In terms of what I eat, I try and consume only ‘clean’ calories with lots of complex carbohydrates, whole wheat (pasta, bread), oats, lean meats (chicken, turkey, tuna, cod, salmon, beef), legumes (lentils, beans etc), lots of fruit and veg and drink lots of water. I’ll throw a cheat meal in once a week (usually pizza and beer) to stay sane.
One of the main things I’ve learnt so far from working out is the individuality of the discipline. What works amazingly well for one person might not work as well, if at all, for another. And that goes for a lot of things such as exercises, supplements and nutrition. Another thing I’ve learnt is to be humble and realise that you’re not always right. Fitness, like life, is one big learning experience and you need to learn from your mistakes and grow. A lot comes down to trial and error and it’s about finding what works best for YOU. Don’t get too hung up on what other people are doing.
Finally, one of the best pieces of advice I would pass on to anyone starting out is the two P’s: patience and perseverance. Don’t expect to see changes overnight; sometimes it takes months and months of hard work to see almost imperceptible gains, but stick with it.
I hope this message and photo’s find you well and it would be both an honour and a privilege to be included as one of your ‘Success Stories’.
All the best,
Tim’

Hey Tim, congratulations on the 10 pounds of solid muscle.  Its clear that it was all muscle because you are just as ripped in the after photo.  As you have found out, yes it is possible to gain muscle without getting fat!  Way to go!  By the way, I love Nottingham!  I spent a month working there in the 90’s :)
